S tar Transport, Inc. was formed in Canton, IL in the late 1940's. It began as a freight and household carrier and was an agent for North American Van Lines. Glenn A. Werry, Sr. was the founder of the company and the main business was servicing the transportation needs of the International Harvester plant in Canton.

Through the work being done with IH in Canton the company began hauling for other agricultural businesses. Equipment consisted of mostly flatbeds and specialized trailers for farm equipment.

The business flourished under the direction of Glenn Sr. until the closing of International Harvester. At this time major adjustments were made to cover the closing of the IH plant in Canton along with the rest of IH Corporation.

In the 1980's Glenn A. Werry, Jr. became active fulltime and began the changes needed. The transportation industry was deregulated and competition became significantly different. Glenn Jr. brought the knowledge of growing up in the business along with an MBA from the University of Illinois to the business.

The business changed its base to Morton, IL and through Glenn Jr.'s effort began a business relationship with Caterpillar. This along with a new partnership with Maytag soon started a swift growth that continues to this day.

The new growth began in the mid-1980's and focused on van traffic. The flatbed fleet has stayed around 30-35 units until recent years. The company now operates over 900 company tractors.
